Application for Prior Approval for the Change of Use of Agricultural Building (North Unit) to Class C1 Apartotel :Ivanhoe Nurseries Ironwell Lane Hawkwell

http://planningguidance.planningportal.gov.uk/blog/guidance/when-is-permission-required/what-are-permitted-development-rights/permitted-development-rights-for-the-change-of-use-of-agricultural-buildings/

If you read the above the Government has decided that Agricultural Buildings may be converted without much formality to Class C1 (hotels).

Yes you read that right !!

But under the new Government rules this cannot and will not go to Councillors to decide on whether to Approve or Refuse.

The Decision will be made purely and solely by Council Planning Officers and we are not even sure whether we or residents can even comment.

The Local Election Results are here http://www.rochford.gov.uk/council_and_democracy/elections/election_results

As you can see neither Independents, Green Party or even Ukip increased the number of seats they had on the Council.

Nevertheless all of the Independent and Residents Candidates did very well thanks to the support from residents and our analysis shows that the position will be very different in 2016 when there will be no large turnout voting, no national tide in favour of the Conservatives and, dare I say it, there will be no national surge for Ukip either.

Christine Mason was re-elected in Hawkwell West.  Thank you for your support.

NHS Breast Screening Unit Gets parking charges

breast screening (1)Hells Bells !! Rochford District Council even charges the NHS Breast Screening Unit parking charges !!

WOULD YOU STILL THINK OF VOTING CONSERVATIVE IF YOU THINK THAT THIS IS WRONG?

AND PLEASE SHARE THIS FOR ALL TO SEE. “Exploiting the NHS is NOT Saving the NHS”

Look at the photo. The Unit is not even in any parking space so this is additional revenue over and above the additional charges from patients visiting the unit for screening.

How much? An Officer’s report says that it used to be “by calculating a fee based on the pro-rata price of an annual parking permit (£800.00)”.

blue-352470_1920Well worth reading what the Government Planning Inspector said about Green Belt which goes against the edict which has been put out by RDC for years !!

Michael Hoy and I put forward a Motion to say that housing numbers must be assessed on LOCAL NEEDS years ago and the Tories were scathing in their rejection. But now they say that local needs are the key !!

Flooding Risk in Rochford District made a political football by former Conservative candidate !!

September 1, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

DSCF0638floodYou can read the Letter published in Friday’s Echo here.

Mr. Webb wrongly accuses  your two Independent Councillors of not attending a Council Meeting.

A Local resident has emailed to say that he has written to the Echo about Mr. Webb’s views that a cross party Flood Committee should now deal with with past and future local flooding events “This is the same party who voted to cover thousands of acres of land with concrete to build houses on which commonsense says will cause more flooding. Mike I live on planet earth where do you live?.”

Alliance between The Rochford Independents and The Green Party

May 27, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

Rochford District Residents and the Green Party have today formed an alliance on Rochford District Council.

GB_Rochford District Residents_254

Both Parties will remain entirely separate in Elections continuing to remain true to their own objectives.

The last three years have demonstrated that our two Groups can work well together when polices coincide but believe that formal co-operation will lead to a more effective and positive questioning of the Conservative Policies which will lead to an improvement in outcomes for residents. Examples of this can be found in our joint opposition to the abolition of FREE Saturday Afternoon Parking and support for the questions that residents of the District are regularly raising about the capacity of infrastructure to sustain the house building quotas in the Rochford Core Strategy.

Residents of Thorpe Road Have Had Enough !!

April 7, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

shmaResidents of the “Unmade End” of Thorpe Road. Hawkwell have suffered so much damage to the road surface that they have issued an Open Letter of Complaint to David Wilson Homes/Barratts at their Clements Gate (Christmas Tree Farm) Site.

We hope that Barratts will now listen to the these residents and put things right immediately.

Rochford District Council has also issued the following by email.

It was apparent that the lamp columns along Rectory Road, which were required to be repositioned off of the footpath, had been installed by the power utilities company in the wrong place. They have been instructed accordingly and will put right their error.”

Annual Civic Dinner 2014 – Rochford District Council

March 3, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

under thumbWith the furore created by the MP’s Expenses Scandal you might have thought that the searchlight must have been fully shone by now in to every corner, nook and cranny of public life and that voters now know the full story and public figures would think twice when spending hard earned public money on themselves.

But in our opinion there is another scandal in our local District Council which is all the more surprising given the focus that has been placed on our District Council to dispense with any unnecessary expense.  This is in a time of financial austerity when the man/woman in the street is suffering another increase in Council Tax which, combined with the increased Parking Charges, is the annual equivalent of nearly 5% in Council Tax.

GB_Rochford District Residents_254Development Committee was busy this week particularly for your Hawkwell West Councillors, John and Christine Mason, as two applications that affect our Ward were up for consideration. These were both for alterations to Conditions for the Housing Estate that is currently being built. Despite the developer receiving full, detailed approval in Dec 2012 our Officers seem to be constantly having to work on proposed alterations.
